Taxi vs bus in Ibiza: when each one makes more sense in 2026

The real question is not whether taxi or bus is “better”, but which one makes more sense for that exact moment. On Ibiza the answer changes a lot depending on arrival time, luggage, group size and how close your destination really is to a useful stop.

The short answer

The bus usually wins if you are travelling solo, in daylight and between clearly connected points. The taxi usually wins if you have luggage, land late, split the price with others or need to reach somewhere that is not comfortably served.

Ibiza is not a compact city grid. Quite often the bus gets you sort of near, while the taxi gets you exactly where you need to be.

When taxi wins

  • Late airport arrivals, especially if you still have a long transfer afterwards.
  • Groups of three or four, because the fare is per taxi rather than per person.
  • Dinner, beach club or club returns when the night tariff changes the cost but the bus is no longer practical.
  • Routes to coves, fincas and residential areas where public transport still leaves a gap.
  • Whenever time, luggage and comfort matter more than just paying the smallest amount.

When the bus wins

  • When you are alone or as a couple and your route sits on a straightforward daytime corridor.
  • When you are flexible on timing and do not mind a walk from the stop.
  • When saving money matters more than saving time.
  • When you move between towns and main beaches in standard daytime hours.

Clear examples

  • Airport → Ibiza Town: taxi is around €16.10 by day. With luggage or a group, taxi often makes sense fast.
  • Airport → San Antonio: taxi is around €28.20 by day and €33.40 by night. For groups or late arrivals, taxi usually wins clearly.
  • Ibiza Town → Playa d'en Bossa: around €10.05. On short shared rides, taxi can be more reasonable than people expect.

How to decide in 20 seconds

  • Three or four people? Check taxi first.
  • Late arrival or nighttime move? Check taxi first.
  • Travelling with luggage? Taxi usually gains ground.
  • Simple daytime route on a main corridor? Bus may be smarter.
  • Do not guess: calculate the taxi and compare from there.
