The beach: family-friendly and easy-going

Cala Bassa has a very gentle, shallow entry into the water, with soft sand and natural pine shade, making it ideal for a day out with kids or a laid-back beach session. The water is crystal clear and tends to stay calm when the westerly wind isn't blowing. It's a wide bay, so even when it gets busy it handles the crowds better than the smaller coves up north.

The CBbC beach club and facilities

The beach is home to the well-known CBbC (Cala Bassa Beach Club), offering sunbeds, a restaurant and a great daytime atmosphere. Booking a sunbed in high season is strongly recommended. There are also chiringuitos and independent sunbed rentals for those who'd rather skip the beach club experience. Either way, the beach is well serviced, so you won't need to lug too much with you.

Getting there: by car or boat from San Antonio

You can drive via San José, though the car park fills up fast at the height of summer. The most convenient and enjoyable option is the boat: regular ferries depart from San Antonio port to Cala Bassa, cutting out the parking stress and doubling as a pleasant mini cruise. If you arrive and find it packed, Cala Conta and Cala Gració are both solid nearby alternatives.
