Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta: how to get there and parking 2026

Cala Salada and the tucked-away Cala Saladeta make up one of the prettiest spots near San Antonio: crystal-clear water, pine-covered cliffs and rocks to jump from. The big issue is parking, which is heavily restricted in summer, so a bit of planning goes a long way.

Two coves in one

Cala Salada is the main beach, with sand, a beach bar and traditional fishing boats. Just beside it, along a short path, lies Cala Saladeta: smaller, wilder and for many people even more beautiful, with an incredible turquoise sea and flat rocks that invite you to jump in. The short walk over to Saladeta is well worth it, though the descent requires a little care.

Parking: the biggest headache

Here is the catch: in summer, car access to the cove is heavily restricted and the car park at the bottom is tiny. During peak season a park-and-ride shuttle from a higher lot usually operates, or the road is simply closed once capacity is reached. If you are driving, set off very early (before 9:00 am) or be prepared to turn back. This is not a beach you can casually show up to at midday in August.

Getting there and when to visit

The most stress-free approach is to leave the car behind: there is a bus from San Antonio in summer, and you can also arrive by boat. If you are going independently, the sweet spot is early on a weekday morning, when spaces are available and the cove is at its calmest. By mid-morning the situation changes fast. Bring water and a snack, as facilities are limited.

Frequently asked questions

Can you park at Cala Salada?

With difficulty. In summer access is heavily restricted and the car park is small; a shuttle system or full road closure usually kicks in once it fills up. Arrive before 9:00 am.

What is Cala Saladeta?

It is the smaller, wilder cove right next to Cala Salada, a short walk away. Turquoise water and flat rocks perfect for jumping into the sea.

How do I get there without a car?

By bus from San Antonio in summer, or by boat. Either option is far more relaxed given the parking situation.

When is the best time to go?

Early in the morning and on weekdays, when you can still find a spot and the cove is peaceful.

Are there facilities at the cove?

Limited. There is a beach bar at Cala Salada, but it is worth bringing water and food, especially if you are heading to Saladeta.
